Can you have joy when life feels hard?

Do you carry the belief that your life has to be really good in order for you to have joy?

Maybe you tell yourself that joy will come when…

⟶ your marriage problems are resolved.

⟶ you have lost 10 pounds.

⟶ your back stops hurting.

⟶ your work slows down.

⟶ you get the promotion.

⟶ your kids sleep through the night.

⟶ your 4-year old won’t throw tantrums or your 15-year old can drive.

⟶ the pandemic/ economic crisis/ <insert any external event>… is over.

I know that there are so many stories swirling through so many heads.

Stories that tell you that …

… right now you cannot expect much.

… things are out of your control and you just got to get through.

… push joy, pleasure, fun and lightness to an undefined future moment.

… hold you hostage in a cycle of stress, defeat, and exhaustion.

And so you hold off on focusing on you and on building –even, expecting– joy.

But here is what I want to invite you to consider:

Isn’t focusing on your joy more important in challenging times than in any other times?

When things are already difficult for you, don’t you want and deserve a little help?

Wouldn’t it be so much easier …

… to have constructive, loving & honest conversations…

… to eat healthy and move your body…

… to do good work…

… to be an attentive parent and like Dr. Becky says “a sturdy leader” in your family…

… to not feel anxious in the face of negative global news…

if you had joy in your life –however small!– that fuels you with energy, clarity, and a subtle sense of optimism.

You see (and I know I have said this before), your joy IS YOUR GREATEST TOOL not just to enjoy your life more and have those beautiful, euphoric highs when times are good, but also –and maybe even more importantly– to nurture your resilience, to keep you steady, to ground you in confidence and trust that you can handle difficult moments when you need it most.

Giving you this message and reframing joy as something that is accessible and necessary even in challenging seasons of your life is so important to me, because I believe that ALL OF OUR JOY COLLECTIVELY creates a far better world.

A world where people are resilient, optimistic, and grounded, where people can do hard things without burning out or slipping into pessimism.

By nurturing your joy, you are doing your part… for yourself and for the world.

And, you are showing other people (and if you have kids, you are role-modeling this for generations to come!) that nurturing your joy is a fundamental piece of creating health and success in the long term.

This is why I have created JOYFUL – ON PURPOSE.

I want to make your joy more accessible to you, because I know that when you have joy no matter what season you are in, your life will become so much better and easier.

Inside of JOYFUL – ON PURPOSE I will to take you through an amazing, small-group (for privacy and lots of sharing) 6-week process where we focus on shifting into a joy-centered mindset and build more opportunities for joy into the fabric of your life.

I truly cannot wait.

We start in the week of October 10th (exact dates and times will be set depending on the participants’ availability).
