Sefl Quest: With What Tone Are You Narrating the Story of Your Life?
Every day, we tell ourselves a story — about who we are, what we're capable of, and what kind of life we're living.
But have you ever paused to ask: What tone am I using to narrate my own story?
Assess:
Is it compassionate or critical?
Empowering or defeated?
Curious or cynical?
Tone shapes everything.
You can experience the exact same event, but the tone you use to reflect on it will determine whether it becomes a lesson, a burden, or a breakthrough.
For example:
“I failed again. I'm never going to figure this out.” (defeated)
vs.
“That didn't go as planned. What can I learn and try differently next time?” (curious and growth-oriented)
The tone of your inner voice is often inherited — from parents, culture, teachers, or past experiences.
But there's good news: It's not fixed.
You can rewrite it. You can choose a tone that's more supportive, honest, and aligned with who you're becoming — not just who you've been.
So today, check in with your narrator, that inner voice that gives your life shape, meaning, and a path.
You are the great storyteller of your life.
You can take this week's question and simply reflect on it on your own, you can use it as a journal prompt (very powerful), or you can go on a walk with friends and discuss it in a group (builds connection).
With love as always,
Caroline
