A NYC subway story about awe and attraction
Today I want to share a little story with you about the magnetic energy of wonder and awe.
A few years ago, when I was living in New York City, someone (I wish I could remember who!) told me something that stuck:
When you direct all your energy toward something and shower it with wonder and awe, you ignite your magnetic energy.
As someone who's always been drawn to the mystical, I was instantly captivated.
So, on my next subway ride, I decided to test it.
I picked a random pair of shoes across from me and began to silently admire them in detail:
Oh, what beautiful laces — tied so evenly.
That smooth leather — marvelous.
The soles, sturdy and well-made. What beautiful shoes.
On and on I went, letting my full awe — for these completely ordinary shoes — grow and play.
(By the way, I always chuckle when I tell this story )
I never once made eye contact with the person wearing them. My entire focus stayed on noticing anything that could possibly be beautiful or interesting about those shoes.
And then — the train stopped. The shoes stood up.
The man wearing them walked straight over to me and said:
“I just wanted to wish you a beautiful day.”
Let me remind you: this was New York City. People in NYC do not do that kind of neighborly well-wishing to strangers.
I just smiled and said, “Thank you.”
And in that moment, I knew: when you bring wonder, awe, and admiration to something — anything — your energy shifts, and your magnetism lights up.
People can't hear your thoughts, but they can always feel your energy — and the energy your thoughts create.
Whether you're aware of it or not, your energy is either opening or closing doors for you. It's either attracting or repelling what you desire.
So let me ask you:
What are you hoping to call into your life?
How could you bring a little more awe, wonder, and admiration into your focus to help shift your energy and attract what you want?
With love as always,
Caroline
