Thoughts + Notes

10 things I am obsessed with right now... bet you need these, too.
One of my biggest missions in my own life is to create a FERTILE, FUN, COLORFUL LIFE for myself and my family.
What that means is that I want to, not only, live in a hormonally balanced body that can be the best possible place for a baby to grow, but that I want to rest in a calm, resilient mind. That way I can make decisions from a playful, inspired place that allows me to foster amazing relationships and do my work full-heartedly. Besides that I also simply want to have a ton of fun, eat delicious food, and laugh lots.
That's why in today's post I want to share 10 things that have lately rocked my world and will (hopefully) help you along your journey of creating a "fertile life" on all fronts as well:
[A way of life] If you only do one thing for yourself, do this!
*scroll underneath today's post for an update from our life in Austin. Some of you asked ;)
How do you feel about being called a complainer, a hypochondriac, or an exaggerator? How about the terms needy, weak, overly emotional, fearful, hysterical, insecure or crazy?
None of these are descriptions we like to hear and yet, as women, whether or not we actually hear them from other people, we are cognizant of avoiding them. I cannot tell you how many of my clients over the years had an inner conflict about trying really hard to not be "a needy girlfriend" for example.
Guilty pleasures? How about just pleasure.
When we go to bed at night, my husband frequently says "I hope you dream of chocolate."
He knows me well;)
I loooove chocolate. I've had a sweet-tooth for as long as I remember. In fact, my whole family is really into sugar (it's not out of the realm of their imagination to suggest dessert after breakfast. Truth.).
While chocolate brings me a lot of pleasure, it has also (dis-)served me in 2 major ways:
Holistic conception: Creating a fertile life.
Last week, I had the privilege to be interviewed by Amy Neuhedel, a Birthing Year Coach, Hypnobirthing teacher and certified birth doula (DONA), living in Sweden. She is the founder of an amazing podcast called The Cord and I'd love to invite you to listen to our interview called "Holistic conception: Creating a fertile life."
Using the power of feng shui to invite love and fertility into your life. An interview with Bryce Kennedy.
I literally couldn't be more stoked for today's blogpost because I get to share the powerful wisdom of feng shui expert Bryce Kennedy with you.
Bryce Kennedy is a lawyer turned feng shui expert who focuses on helping women discover their passion and power by reflecting their personal beauty into their space, relationships and lives.
In the interview below...
The downside of being really good at self-care (it happened to me)
Do you find that everyone is talking about self-care these days? What they can do to treat themselves well, eat healthfully, exercise regularly, stress less, sleep better, improve their communication, get a raise, feel more beautiful... the list goes on.
3 key aspects for a thriving fertility
The majority of women I know spend the better part of their teens, twenties, and even early thirties terrified of getting pregnant accidentally. So much of our efforts go into trying to avoid pregnancy for so long that many women find themselves surprised that getting pregnant when they are ready is actually not as easy as they once thought.
I was one of those women who spent 15 years of my life on some sort of hormonal birth control just to discover that I had had an underlying hormonal imbalance that the pill had been masking (or perhaps created).
The single best way to create more joy
hi lovely- as a joy seeker myself I've thought a lot about what joy means, how it manifests, how to get more of it, how to share it with others, how to make it last...
Joy is a tremendously important feeling to foster within oneself when it comes to receiving anything in life: love, friendship, genuine kindness, money, a promotion, and yes, a baby!
Since becoming a mom myself, what brings me joy and what I do in order to feel joyful has changed -simplified, in fact.
3 simple ways to boost your hormonal health -starting today!
First of all, let me clarify what I mean by "healthy" because I don't mean skinny, toned or even just fit.
To me "healthy" means vibrant, full of energy, confident, at home in your body, radiant skin, a resilient mind, positive emotional balance, and - you may have guessed it- a rocking fertility which means having a regular, painfree (yup!) cycle without emotional ups and downs!
Do you make things harder than they really are? Do this.
My dear friend Nadya from Spinach and Yoga posted a quote from Alan Cohen on instagram the other day about being a "hardaholic", basically a person who approaches things the hard way -often without knowing!!!
I have been thinking about this phenomenon a lot over the last days because it is something I observe a lot in my clients, in my friends, and in myself as well.
I think this issue is three-fold:
Consider this: Are you a "free-range" person?
I just got back from four amazing days at a lake house on Oxoboxo lake in CT. Our little family of three desperately needed to escape the humid, hectic city for a few days and wander off into quietness, fresh air, and slower days. We could hear the morning birds, feel the cool breeze rushing over the lake, and take swims whenever we wanted. Heaven!
I am in love {meet my baby boy, Felix} + a question for you to consider
It is with such pleasure, pride, and joy that I am writing to you today to share the news about my baby boy, Felix Gustav Marlow Zwickson. He was born on June 8th at 7lbs 11oz and 21 inches.
What do your love life, career, and fertility have in common? (+ a special invite)
Last Thursday I officially started my maternity leave and now I am just waiting for my little man to arrive into this beautiful world.
It’s still all so surreal to me. I know that I have a human in my belly (trust me, his strong, cheeky kicks make sure I don’t forget ;)), but I still don’t completely “get it.” Most of my new-mom friends say the same thing: it’s not real until your baby is actually in your arms. I cannot wait.
Let’s talk women’s health and nutrition
Having solid mentors and amazing teachers has been immensely important in my life (you know how much they matter after you’ve had some bad ones).
That's why I am so excited to introduce you to one of my mentor Jessica Drummond, MPT, CCN, CHC and talk to you about women’s health & nutrition and the importance of taking a holistic approach to your well-being.
As many of you know from some of my recent posts, I was faced with hormonal imbalances after coming off the birth control pill
I let myself burst into tears
A few weeks ago, I was on a walk in my neighborhood fighting back tears that were desperately seeking to exit my body. My throat felt tight, my shoulders heavy, my belly knotted.
Now, I normally am a very even tempered, resilient person who is generally in a good and positive mood. So this day definitely stuck out as drastically different from my “average” day or “typical” self.
The weirdest thing was that if you had run into me that day and asked me what was wrong, I would have probably burst out in tears and sobbed “I don’t know.”
7 ways to slow down and bring more joy into your life
Do you remember when you were a kid and time wasn't even a concept yet?
I really like thinking about how I spent hours picking daisies in my backyard and turned them into flower crowns or necklaces for me and the other women in my house -and sometimes even my dog, who, to my huge disappointment, always managed to break it within seconds... so unthankful;).
6 life lessons from my first 6 months of pregnancy
I am really excited and also a bit nervous about what I am sharing with you today. It is very personal and I know it has the potential to rub some people the wrong way.
I feel called to share my pregnancy story so far, because I strongly believe that the perception of pregnancy has undergone a somewhat damaging image change -namely, that it is a difficult experience with tons of discomfort and tedious pains by default.
