Not feeling like yourself?
This morning I came across a quote by Lalah Delia that caught my eye.
It read:
Keep taking time for yourself, until you’re you again.
I suddenly felt my body relax into the simplicity of this message and it felt so lovely that I wanted to pass this message on to you.
Here is what I want you to know:
It’s ok to not feel like yourself sometimes.
It’s ok to go through phases of evolution, and stretches of transformation where you, your body, your mind, even your soul feel new and foreign and strange and so freaking far away that you fear that you may have lost yourself completely.
It’s ok if you need time to figure yourself out and need to try out a couple weird ways of being.
It’s alright if you don’t like yourself for a window of time because that is what motivates change.
It’s ok to feel into it and find uncertainty, doubt, fear, loneliness, anger, sadness.
It’s ok to discover exhilarating joy, pleasure that you almost feel embarrassed about, passion that feels inappropriate.
It’s ALL ok.
But what you need to know is this message:
Keep taking time for yourself, until you’re you again.
Unless you spend time with yourself, listening to your inner voice, exploring who you are and willing to witness your own evolution with openness, you and YOU will always stay just far enough apart to feel split, un-whole, somehow incomplete.
How can you spend time with yourself today?
It doesn’t have to be an hour or even 30 minutes. Make it 5 or 10 minutes where you are not distracted or zoning out on your phone, but you are simple just with YOU, feeling into who you are, what it’s like to be in your body, observing the quality of your thoughts and how you experience the world.
This is the secret to wholeness.
This is the path to YOU.
Love,
Caroline
