I got to be a fashion model for a day... here's what happened

Do you know those moments in life when you see an opportunity and you think to yourself "It probably won't happen, but I'll try anyway."

That was me last fall when I got an email in my inbox from my favorite clothing brand Amour Vert. Amour Vert is a SF-based conscious clothing brand who cares a great deal about sustainability, non-toxic dies, organic fabrics, fair labor practices and keeping our planet healthy and rich in greenery... in fact, they plant a tree for each t-shirt they sell (159,208 to this moment). Isn't that amazing? Plus, their clothing is super fashionable, comfortable and well.... my absolute favorite!

The subject of the email I received that day said "Do you want to be featured in our catalogue?"

"Well, yes!" I thought and clicked 'open.'

I ended up filling out a short questionnaire about what sustainability means to me, why it matters and how it has affected my shopping habits and life.

Once I started writing I couldn't stop because I realized that sustainability means so much more to me ever since I became a mom. I basically just wrote my heart out and without re-reading anything, I clicked 'send' and didn't think much more of it because "let's be real... what are the chances they'll pick me?!"

Well, long story short, they did pick me along with 6 other incredible women from all over the country who all do amazing work in this world. Together, we were invited to the Amour Vert SF headquarters to have conversations around the importance of sustainability in the fashion world (did you know that fashion ranks #2 -after oil- as the most toxic industry?) and have a day of serving as their fashion models and do interviews with them for their Women We Amour campaign.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun I had.

You can check out Women We Amour here (my interview is at the bottom).

I'm sharing this story with you, because:
1. I'm just too excited not to haha
2. I want to encourage you to make wise choices around fashion and where your dollar goes and what it supports, and
3. because I want you to know that I really believe that life has fun surprises for all of us and that anything is possible. Don't let thoughts like "I'm not that lucky," "Why me?," "I'll never get this" get into your way of trying anything; in motherhood, in your relationship, in your health, in your LIFE !!

With love as always,

Caroline
