Today’s challenge:
Start to build awareness for what you are making and taking personal.
Here are 5 journal questions to explore as part of today’s challenge:
What are you making personal in your life?
What negative thoughts about yourself do you entertain in your mind? (think: your abilities, your looks, your worth etc.)
What do you wish you could take less personally in your life? Think about the moments in your life that sting and make you feel bad about yourself? (Maybe a relationship or friendship, a critical boss…)
Imagine if you didn’t make or take things personal and you were free of negative thoughts about yourself, how would your life be different?
What are 3 specific things you want to say to yourself instead so you can start to build and practice an explanatory style that is more optimistic because it no longer makes or takes things personal?
Exploring these blocks in our lives and really looking them in the eye isn’t easy, but we have to become aware of what’s in our way before we can move forward and upward.
Trust me when I tell you that doing this work is one of the most important things you will ever do for yourself because having a self-supportive, optimistic mindset makes everything better, easier, and more joyful.
It is the foundation for you to truly thrive.
Plus, you simply deserve positive, loving, joyful thoughts about yourself. We all do.
