Honoring your body (& its changing shapes) through pregnancy and postpartum

When we think of pregnancy and women’s bodies after giving birth, there is so much pressure in our society to look a certain “radiant” way, have the “pregnancy glow”, and then to “bounce back” to your pre-baby body quickly.

If you ask me, that's totally messed up and destructive to any mama's self-esteem, BUT it's still the reality we live in and it's a big point of frustration, emotional hardship, and pain for so many women.

Last week, I had the tremendous pleasure to interview my friend and colleague Jamie Greenwood on one of the most important topics for pregnant women and new mamas: how to continue to honor your own body while it may not feel so great, while its shape is changing completely (& probably forever), and while it may feel exhausted from building and then caring for a newborn.

This interview is so full of information, tips and compassion from two women who are pregnant themselves right now (Jamie is about to give birth to her first and I am half way through my second pregnancy :)).

In the interview we chat about:

  • how to feel more present in your life NOW and finding a way to feel good NOW
  • why is self-acceptance, especially when it comes to our bodies and even during pregnancy, so difficult for so many women in our society? (Jamie goes way deeper than just blaming the media)
  • how to stand above society's expectations for pregnant women and new moms and instead focus on yourself
  • What are Jamie's top tools that women can use to regain confidence and honor their own bodies no matter what they look like? Where does one start?
